On Monday morning, Oluwatoyin Toyin Salau became a hot topic as thousands grieved for losing her life.

Toyin was active in Black Lives Matter, and was reportedly found dead in Florida over the weekend. Salou, 19, was last seen in Tallahassee on June 6. This was before unconfirmed reports on social media of her death more than a week later.

Tallahassee Police Department announced on Sunday that it is investigating a double murder. She was also arrested in the case.

However, the identity of the victims or the suspect was not immediately revealed.

People on Twitter quickly mentioned Facebook's post as verification of Salau's death. However, it remains unclear who the other victim may be.

Salou tweeted before her disappearance that she had been sexually assaulted on 6 June.

The activist's death comes at a time when the murder of colored people sparked global protests against racism and police violence.

No end in sight

On Wednesday, a man known as Robert Fuller was found hanging from a tree near Palmdale City Hall, California. The 20-year-old had a rope around his neck and was reported to have committed suicide.

Two female mutants were found dead in separate cases. Dominic "Remy" Fels was the first woman to be found dead when her severed body was discovered next to the Schuylkill River in the Bartman's Garden area in Philadelphia on June 8.

The second mutant woman to be killed was Rhea Milton. Investigators say she was shot several times during a burglary attempt in Liberty, Ohio, on Tuesday.

These deaths followed the death of Ricehard Brooks in Atlanta and George Floyd in Minneapolis. The two were killed by local law enforcement authorities.

With Bruna Taylor dying by police in Louisville so far without accusations against her murderers and other suspected deaths of women of color, the racist pandemic is still burning.
