Actress Kelly Preston died at the age of 57 after a battle with breast cancer.

Preston's husband, actor John Travolta, wrote an emotional post on Instagram on Sunday evening, confirming that his 28-year-old wife had passed away.

With a very heavy heart, I am writing to you that my beautiful wife Kelly has lost her two-year battle with breast cancer, Travolta, 66, wrote. She fought in a brave battle with love and support of many Kelly Preston

Kelly's love and life will always be remembered, Travolta wrote, noting that he plans a vacation to be there for my children who have lost their mother. So forgive me in advance if you haven't heard from us for a while but please know that I will feel your stream of love in the coming weeks and months as we recover. jett travolta

September John Travolta and Kelly Preston shared the tribute to the 28th anniversary

The couple had three children - the daughter of Ella, 20, and her two sons, Benjamin, 9, and Geet, who died at the age of 16 in January 2009 after they had a seizure while the family was on vacation in the Bahamas. 

Ella Travolta praised her mother for Instagram.

A family statement for People Magazine said that Preston chose to keep her cancer \fighting in particular.

She has been undergoing medical treatment for some time, with the support of her family and friends, the statement said. She was a bright, beautiful, loving spirit who cared deeply about others and brought life back to everything it touched.

Preston starred in films such as the 1986 comedy SpaceCamp, Twins (1988), as fiancee of Tom Cruise Avery Bishop in Jerry Maguire (1996) and alongside Kevin Costner in the 1999 sports drama For Love of the Game

Preston's last role in the movie was in 2018 in the movie Gotti, where she played Victoria Gotti, the wife of Mafia boss John Gotti. It was a family affair as Travolta portrayed John Gotti. Jerry Maguire

He met Travolta and Preston while filming Experts in 1988. They got married at a midnight party in Paris in 1991.

In September, Travolta and Preston celebrated their 28th wedding anniversary with dual social media shows.

Travolta, 65, wrote on Instagram, along with a picture of the couple embracing: Happy memory of my wonderful wife.

Shortly thereafter, Preston posted her own picture and described to Instagram how much Travolta meant to her.
