But the couple met in a special version of her Red Table Talk program on Friday on Facebook to share their side of the controversy surrounding her relationship with singer August Alsina

During a Red Table Talk conversation, Smith prompted his wife to be clear about her relationship with Alsina.

Pinkett Smith said: "I got tangled with Augustus."

In a recent interview with radio presenter Angela Ye, Alsina said that he was involved in a romantic relationship with Pinkett Smith, who had been married to Smith since 1997.

I sat with Will and had a conversation, Alsina said during the interview. 

Because of the change from their marriage to a the life partnership that they talked about many times, and that did not involve romance, he gave me his blessing.

Alsina said he lost money and relationships due to the rumors he was involved with Pinkett Smith, 48.

The actress and her 51-year-old husband have long been the subject of rumors that they have an open marriage.

The couple denied this, but say their marriage is not traditional and they have a "life partnership".

On Friday's episode, the couple said they had to speak openly because there was a lot of speculation after Alsina's interview.

We didn't say anything at all, said Will Smith. Coming to the table was as if we just felt that it had reached the point where you should say something

Pinkett Smith said that she started a friendship with Alsina about four and a half years ago, and it got more as soon as she and her husband collided a rough patch.

She also said she wanted to clarify Alsina after she said that her husband had permitted the case, although she added that she understood why the young singer believed this to be the case.

And she said, The only person who can permit in these circumstances is me.

I could see how he would be seen as permission because we separated amicably and I think he also wanted to make it clear that he is also not a home fan. He is not.

The actress said she was in a lot of pain and broke during the relationship

She and Will tried "all we could to get away from each other just to realize this was not possible."

Pinkett Smith said her relationship with the Sina family had ended, reconciled Smith, and said she had not spoken to the singer in years.

She said that she and her husband have now reached the place of unconditional love.

Smith said he wasn't sure if he would talk to Pinkett Smith again when they had problems, but he reminded her of their commitment.
