Europe and Gas - Secrets of Blinken's visit to Morocco and Algeria

It became known from things necessarily, and whatever the outcome of the Russian-Ukrainian war, and even if Russia swallowed all the territory of Ukraine completely, Europe decided to completely dispense with Russian gas.

But the important and dangerous matter will not happen today or tomorrow or even after a year or five years, but it is expected that this will happen and that Russian gas will be completely and completely dispensed with within 3 to 5 years from now.

And the question is here

What are the proposed alternatives in light of the dependence of all of Europe on Russian gas due to its proximity, cheapness and ease of transportation through a huge network of giant pipelines?

Liquefied gas can be one of the quick alternatives, of course, but it is an unsustainable solution and it is not suitable to be adopted as a long-term strategy, given the high cost of liquefaction and transportation on ships and then re-gasification again before use.

There is also an attempt to supply Europe with gas through Algerian and African pipelines, and this was the reason behind the visit of "Anthony Blinken" to Algeria and Morocco at the conclusion of his last Middle Eastern tour. He was trying to persuade Algeria to pump Algerian gas back through the pipeline that exits from it to Morocco, From it, it reaches Spain and the rest of Europe through the Strait of Gibraltar, which Algeria had stopped about a year ago after increasing tensions between it and the Kingdom of Morocco.

But Algeria, Russia's strategic ally, is very difficult to sacrifice its relationship with Moscow just to fulfill Washington's desires. Hence, Blinken's visit and attempts failed before it began.

Here, America, along with Britain and the rest of Europe, thought of reviving the "Nabucco" gas pipeline project, but after adjusting its course and adding new countries to it so that it would be in a larger and broader form.

And for those who do not know what the old Nabucco gas line is, so quickly, this line appeared in 2002 and was based on the fact that it collects gas from Qatar and Azerbaijan to then pass through Syria, and from there to Turkey, which at this time would be the “gas mayor” in the world The old line, where the branches of this line converge and gather, to be distributed through it to the rest of Europe.

Because of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's refusal to pass this line through his country's territory, the ground under his feet in Syria was ignited with the scheme of the Hebrew Spring.

And then what we all know happened, and Syria was destroyed and completely out of the power equation in the region, and this was the reason for the stance taken by Turkey against Syria and even militarily invading it and occupying the northern border areas of it as a kind of revenge for depriving “Erdoğaz” of the project of his life.

Also, this was the same reason that Qatar tried to sabotage Syria by all means and spent billions in order to remove Bashar al-Assad's regime from power.

The idea of the proposed new "Nabucco" pipeline is based on collecting gas from the four "Caspian" countries, namely Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan and Iran

To pass all these pipelines from the east to the city of “Tbilisi” in Georgia, then they meet with other pipelines coming from Qatar, Israel and Lebanon, to converge all the lines in “Turkey” to become the “Gas Mayor” also in the new project, from which the pipelines will be distributed Pipes to the rest of Europe.

And because there is nothing in politics that happens by chance, even the names. It is remarkable that the name of this new old project was suggestive and indicative of the side or parties that stand behind it. This name “Nabucco” is inspired by the Old Testament (the book of the Prophet Daniel), which reflects the image of history. He was friendly during the reign of the great king of Babylon “Iraq” from 605 to 562 BC and was known as “Nebuchadnezzar”, but “Nabucco” is a diminutive and derogatory form in Hebrew of the Babylonian king, and it seems that the parties that planned this project deliberately used the name of the king Babylonian for his role in ending the kingdom of "Judah" in what was known as the Babylonian captivity, then she attached it to the project of cosmic arches, and because the book is known from its title, it came in this way to revive old Jewish hatred, and take revenge on Nebuchadnezzar.

This name was chosen to emphasize the Anglo-Saxon geopolitical, and even the biblical religious character of this pipeline. For this reason, we will not be surprised by the efforts of "Erdoğaz" with all his might, tricks and ploys to revive this project, which will make his country a very big leap in the field of energy, and will give it an economic advantage and prestige A major geopolitical might enable him to realize his old dream of joining the European Union.

The important thing is that Russia has stood in the way of this project since the beginning of thinking about it in 2002, and it has raised a legal debate about what is the legal status of the Caspian Sea under international law, and whether it is a “sea” or a “lake”.

And to make it clear

International law differentiates between the legal status of the water surface, whether it is a sea or a lake. If it is a sea, its waters and wealth are shared according to the length of the coasts of the riparian countries and their continental shelf.

But if the water body is a basin or a lake, the legal status of ownership is different, as its waters and wealth are shared equally among all the surrounding countries.

Based on that principle, Russia raised the issue of the legal status of the Caspian Sea and adopted the definition of the "Caspian Basin" as a lake renewable with the waters of the Volga rivers.

Accordingly, international law gives it the right to share its waters and wealth equally among the surrounding countries, and this axis of Russian strategy made it impossible, not only to establish a gas pipeline across the Caspian Basin, but even Turkmenistan or Azerbaijan to develop any gas fields on the coasts of the Caspian Basin in This definition remained, until it is recognized as a sea, and therefore no other country bordering the sea has the right to have oil and gas fields on the shores of other countries bordering the water body.

Thus, Russia succeeded in emptying the project of its feasibility.

But in any case, the "Nabucco" gas pipeline will remain a dream that must be achieved at any cost by America and those with it to deprive Russia of one of its most important sources of national income, and most importantly to liberate Europe from the grip of the Russian bear that holds its neck by controlling its energy supplies.

From all of the above, we can understand why we are biased towards Russia in its current struggle. The issue is not just popular sentiments, but it also falls within the scope of the strategic interests of Egypt and the whole region. Now the countries of the "Caspian Sea" from joining this Anglo-Saxon-American Zionist project.

Consequently, this will harm Egypt’s position in the natural gas market in the eastern Mediterranean region, and will lose its great economic and geopolitical advantage as a “Gas Hub” gas collection point, liquefying it, and then re-exporting it to European countries.
