Liverpool fans flock to Paris before facing Real Madrid in the Champions League final |
Tens of thousands of Liverpool fans sang "You'll Never Walk Alone" in Paris ahead of the Champions League final.
Liverpool will meet Real Madrid, the 13-times champion, at the Stade de France later on Saturday.
British news agency "BA Media" reported that a flood of red shirts surrounded the "Cours de Vincennes" area southeast of the city during the morning, where a special area was prepared for the fans.
Nearly 50,000 fans, most of them without tickets, began gathering this morning, some drinking from 5 GMT, stopping traffic in the area as streets were closed.
Balls were kicked in the air and banners were raised while the shamrocks, which French authorities forbade lit in the fans' gathering area, were lit.
The fans then sang the team's song "You'll Never Walk Alone" before saluting club legend Kenny Dalglish as he walked onto a prepared stage.
Dalglish spoke with the fans about the team's historic season, before the fans chanted his name.
A large number of policemen were present in the area.
