Championship teams have the ability to win all kinds of games, even when they're not at their best. Defending champion Toronto Raptors proved able to do so with the talented defensive performance on Saturday night in a 15-point reversal in the Los Angeles Lakers Saturday night.

The Lakers played their second match in three days to start restarting Orlando and may have been offensively stationary because of this, but holding the title contender by 35.4% and shooting LeBron James and Anthony Davis to 34 combined points is an achievement to be celebrated.

The defensive appearance put there by the Toronto coach Toronto nurse Nick, a tactical elite of the league players, helped preserve Los Angeles, as did the internal defense of Mark Gasol, Pascal Siakam and Serge Ibaka. But the efforts of Kyle Lowry, made up of 33 points, 14 rebounds and six assists, really stole the show.

The Lakers had no Laurie answer despite having strong ocean defenders in Danny Green and Alex Caruso, and it would be interesting to see if Los Angeles had problems with opposing point guards during the sowing period, especially if she had to go against someone like Ja Morant Or Damien Lillard in the first round of the playoffs. However, the strong playing point that Lakers played was the strong playing of Kyle Cosma during the first pair of matches.

But Toronto showed that her star's DNA was deep even without Kawhi Leonard on the list. The Raps managed to beat the Lakers despite shooting 41.7% and getting 50-15 points outside the bench points. The five start was great, 13 out of 25 attempts hit three and 23 out of 26 went off the streak.

If heroes can get that kind of gameplay regularly from OG Anunoby, beware. His 23 points on a 8 by 9 shot are a type of effort that can enable Raptors to hang out with any team in the league.

After the match, the nurse said: "Seriously, man, we love playing games and we want to compete, we know it's hard to beat us, and we're really doing it, and I think there's a ceiling we can reach so far."

Toronto did not play near the best offensive game, barely got any contributions from the bench in this regard and were still able to beat the competing Lakers in 15. There is a reason people tell you not to underestimate the hero's heart. And if the Raptors are still in the rhythm, then the three contenders for the elite title from Lakers, Milwaukee Bucks and LA Clippers may need to make room.

Toronto Raptors remain your NBA defense champion. On Saturday, they proved that they would not give up this title without a fight.
